Jesus observed the Feast of Tabernacles during His life and we are to follow His example. His attendance at the Feast of Tabernacles is recorded in John 7:2-14.

During the Feast of Tabernacles God's people were instructed to go to a place He would designate. When they got there He told them to construct temporary living quarters (often called booths). These two acts help us remember that we are merely sojourners during the days of our life and that our existence in this world is temporary.

The Feast of Tabernacles is a time when God's people are to gather together to worship and to hear His words. Every 7 years God's people are to read aloud His laws and commands so they can listen and learn to obey (Deuteronomy 31:10-13).

The mention of the Feast of Tabernacles in 1 Kings 12:19-33 shows us that the observance of this festival was an important event for God's chosen people. The Feast of Tabernacles was a time when the entire nation gathered together to worship and offer thanks to God in a place where God had chosen to place His name (Jerusalem at this point in history).
